Do you think Hawthorn are making a mistake by targeting ready made players?

They've saud that they are looking for more mature aged recruits instead of targeting the youth in the draft

It's worked very well for St Kilda this year.

Whats your thoughts?Do you think Hawthorn are making a mistake by targeting ready made players?
Well it means they are looking for a premiership next year.

They did the same last year when they picked up the previously retired Stuart Dew who in that GF basically turned the game around with his boot and won it for them.Do you think Hawthorn are making a mistake by targeting ready made players?
Depending on who they are chasing, it can be a good short term solution. However, you don;t want to end up with a team who all retuire within a coupe of seasons of each other and have no youth to fill their shoes. I personally think it is a dangerous option, but it may get them close to a premiership.

looking after the future is always a better option. Fremantle are a classic example of mature aged recruiting gone wrong.
They should do both.

Lots of great players have come from late draft picks and rookie lists.

Examples of players taken with late draft picks and promoted from the rookie lists.:

Nathan Bock

Ben Rutten

Dean Cox

Nick Maxwell

Graham Johncock

James Hird

Jason Porplyzia and many more.
I think that they already have the players needed to win another premiership, they just lost alot this year - hence, why I believe that youth aint the answer.
they better take as many young guys while they can, before West Sydney and Gold Coast take em all
