I am making chicken soup. can i put my chicken in a cheese cloth bag to boil?

You can do it any way you want, but the simplest is to just put the whole chicken on a pot, bring to almost a boil ands reduce heat immediately to a simmer, skim the foam off and relax. By leaving the skin on the whole chicken the meat stays together while imparting flavor. Remove the whole bird, let cool, debone and chop in chunks. Reduce the broth to desired amount and start adding your favorite ingredients.I am making chicken soup. can i put my chicken in a cheese cloth bag to boil?
You could, but why would you want to do that?I am making chicken soup. can i put my chicken in a cheese cloth bag to boil?
No. A good chicken stock requires that it simmer, not boil. The cheese cloth is used for the bouquet garni.
Sure amd if you do not have a cheese cloth bag anymore you could use a coffee filter!~
Hummm! That is an interesting idea. It would avoid the straining of the broth. I may try it next time.

to answer your question, yes you can, but DON'T boil -simmer slowly. Fat emulsifies in the broth if you boil and you cannot get it all out.
Never thought about that but it sounds like it would be worth trying. Might get rid of some of that nasty foam stuff. Plus, maybe after you let it sit a while the chicken skin will come off with the bag when you take it off. Hope someone answers back that has actually tried it.
